Newsletter Q2 2009 Newsletter Q2 2009
By gathering most of Green House Gazes emitters, large cities hold a key leverage to fight against climate change. On a scientific point of view, they are also a very frightening spot to observe the snowball disastrous cycle between local and transboundary pollution, meteorology, and climate phenomenon. Once again, remotesensing is considered a versatile approach, able to “see” far and near atmospheric hazards, in order to aid city daily management and long term policies...

Deployement of Leosphere 50th station Deployement of Leosphere 50th station
Leosphere has recently announced the deployment of its 50th Lidar station. Cloud, aerosol and wind EZ Lidars are now installed in 14 countries contributing to regional and global monitoring of meteorological and climate change processes. Still considered an emerging technology just a few years ago, Lidars are now widely used as routine observation instruments feeding meteorological databases and models. While cloud and aerosol lidar networks keep sprouting in various regions of the world, high resolution laser-based wind profilers were still missing in meteo stations. Our new WLS 70 might well light up the sky to answer that need...
