And observe the whole atmosphere with EZ Lidar remote sensors! Leosphere ALS300/450 is an active remote sensor based on Laser Detection and Ranging technique. EZ Lidars are dedicated to cloud & aerosol structure characterization. A short laser light pulse is emitted into the atmosphere where it encounters atmospheric particles and molecules along the line of sight. A part of this radiation is scattered backward and collected onto the LIDAR reception system. The optical signal is then translated into a voltage against time and distance by multiplication of the speed of light.
1 - Applications
Meteorology and climate - Aerosol and clouds layering - Base of multilayered clouds - Structure & optical properties of aerosol layers, low clouds and subvisible cirrus clouds at 355nm - Global tracking of large scale aerosol transport - Complex polluting phenomenons explanation (desert dust, pollution, biomass burning) - Water vapor profiles (mixing ratio) - Visibility factor in remote areas
Air quality monitoring - Automatic recording of the inversion layer to feed regional forecasting models - Horizontal mapping of urban and industrial areas to detect pollution sources - Study of investigation of local dispersion phenomenon (3D tracking of plumes, traffic) - Continuous monitoring of leak on risky industrial sites
Security - NRBC risks - Visibility control improvement on glide slope - Forest fire early warning (by day and by night) by measuring traces of suspicious aerosol plumes, and humidity profiles over the canopy - Volcanic ash plumes monitoring - Depth of fog clouds
Hydrology and agriculture - Evaporation and transpiration - Vertical and horizontal scanning of spray & dust
