LSCE
The Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement (LSCE) is a joint research unit of the CNRS, the CEA and the University of Versailles St-Quentin. The laboratory activities is divided into three main broad research topics including Climate, Biogeochemical Cycles, and Geochronology-Geochemistry. The EZ Lidar ALS 300D with scan capabilities is mainly used by the scientific team coordinated by Dr. Patrick Chazette that is an expert on microphyisical and optical aerosol properties studies.

ULCO
ULCO (Université du Littoral Côte d'Opal) University financed a project to study the distribution and dispersion of industrial plumes in Dunkerque area. This application requires a quasi real time temporal resolution and a spatial resolution of 1.5m. Fast horizontal scans are performed with an ALS 300D EZ Lidar.

University of Virginia
One of the research fields of the Department of Environmental Science (S. De Wekker) of the University of Virginia is the investigation of atmospheric boundary layer processes that are strongly influenced in hilly and mountainous terrain using a combination of field studies, data analysis, and numerical modeling technique in order to estimate regional CO2 fluxes. An EZ Lidar ALS300 performs field campaigns on different rough terrains to study the boundary layer in relation with a complex terrain.

Washington State University
The
Laboratory for Atmospheric Research (LAR) of Washington State University has a long history of participation in national and international field programs related to air quality research. This emphasis upon field research continues today, but it is now balanced by a growing capability in advanced numerical air quality modeling and laboratory work. LAR is equipped with an EZ Lidar ALS 300 and its measurements mainly in the boundary layer are used in the air pollution forecast models.

SIRTA
IRTA stands for Site Instrumental de Recherche par Télédétection Atmosphérique. It is a French national atmospheric observatory dedicated to cloud and aerosol research. SIRTA is located in Palaiseau (49N, 2E), 20 km south of Paris (France) in a semi-urban environment. The observatory gathers and operates a suite of state-of-the-art active and passive remote sensing instruments from a large community to document and monitor an ensemble of radiative and dynamic processes in the atmosphere. The detailed description of the state of the atmospheric column is archived and made accessible to the scientific community. EZ Lidar ALS450 collected measurements continuously are stored in a climatological database

NASA/GSFC
NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is a major U.S. laboratory for developing and operating unmanned scientific spacecraft. The Center manages many of NASA's Earth Observation, Astronomy, and Space Physics missions. GSFC includes several other properties, most significantly the Wallops Flight Facility near Chincoteague, Virginia. EZ Lidar ALS450 is deployed together with NASA Micro Pulse Lidar and it is mainly used for field campaigns by the MPLNET team

Knmi
KNMI is the national Dutch institute for weather, climate research and
seismology. It disseminates weather information to the public at large,
the government, aviation and the shipping industry in the interest of
safety, the economy and a sustainable environment. To gain insight into
long-term developments, KNMI conducts research on climate change.
Making the knowledge, data and information on hand at KNMI accessible
is one core activity. KNMI is an agency of the Ministry of Transport,
Public Works and Water Management (Ministerie van Verkeer en
Waterstaat). KNMI’s duties are set forth in KNMI Act (Wet op het KNMI).EZ Lidar ALS450D is deployed in the frame of CloudNet project.

research gained a top rating. EZ Lidar ALS450D is used in the frame of CloudNET project that is an EU-funded project to
use data obtained quasi-continuously at three remote sensing stations for the
development and implementation of cloud remote sensing synergy algorithms. Each
site is equipped with radar, Lidar and a suite of passive instrumentation. The
observations will be used in the evaluation of four operational numerical
models, and to demonstrate the role that could be played by an operational
network of cloud remote sensing stations.

LACY
LACY is the hurricanes and atmosphere laboratory from University
of La Réunion, CNRS and Meteo France. They ordered an ALS450 for mobile
campaigns with a scanning device. One of the projects the team is working on is
3D tropospheric aerosol study in south hemisphere, from Austral Africa to
Indian Ocean. The main purpose of the study is to retrieve the aerosol profiles
and concentration. From August to November, they plan to study the aerosol
plumes over the sea from the Marion Dufresne. Secondary objectives are
to study the gaz and dust plumes of the Piton de la Fournaise volcano
and the pollution over Saint Denis.
